Mariam currently holds the position of Deputy General Counsel, BioPharmaceuticals in the Legal Department of AstraZeneca. In this role, she is responsible for leading the global legal team responsible for managing global litigation, including intellectual property litigation, research and development consulting, and global business strategies related to the company`s biopharmaceutical business.

Mariam leads members of the legal team based in the U.S. and Europe and is the lead legal representative and strategic advisor in several management teams, including as General Counsel in the U.S. The legal advisor will influence business decisions with high-quality legal advice and analysis. Kastenmayer began his career as a patent attorney at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner and later served as legal counsel at MedImmune. He has also been a member of the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health, according to his LinkedIn profile. Mariam joined AstraZeneca in 2005 and has held various positions in global legal and compliance roles, including Acting Vice President of Human Resources for the U.S. business.
